I was thinking the exact same thing, extremely quiet. Up at the northwest corner near Lavigne whole month of August, hope there is some great fishing updates before then.

Fishing and the whole sport as a whole has taken a huge hit, first with all the slots and reduced limits and now with the ever increasing costs of living this past time had moved to the backburner with people struggling and not enough money to even put gas in the boat. not going to get better just worse. just look around at the lakes not as many boats out there.

Agreed. It costs much more to drive to water and drive in water than before.
Notice the price of lower end oil too? I swear it’s doubled in just a couple years.

The hard water season seems to drive the traffic.

Been kinda slow for me. Mayfly hatch was early on the west end this year. The black flies were BRUTAL and lasted a good 3 weeks.
I've caught a few, but the walleye bite has been slow. The lake seems a little off with the weird spring. There is a magic "window" I watch for every June and it likely happened during the week this year while I was away from the lake. The few I have caught have mostly been in the slot, so there's that.
I caught a 15lb northern on a 1" crankbait on the weekend. When that happens you know things just ain't right. Hit like a walleye and then fought like a drum.

The crappie are more prevalent this year. I've previously never caught more than 1 in an outing. This spring I pulled 8 from a spot. Boated close to 20 of the things so far. Big change from the first one 3 yrs ago.

There's my report

Fishing is well and doing fine on Nip.
Surface water temps had cooled down last week, almost as cold as the opener. But it’s warming up nicely with the heat this week. Many fish were a bit shallower this time of June compared to the same time last year. But still walleyes galore. The fishing is getting better and better every year.
We’d used mostly worm’s this past week (big shout out to Bowman’s, his worms were as big as snakes this year). Mid lake structure using bottom bouncers and double worm harnesses took the majority of fish for us this past week.
Good luck guys.

Hi everyone. Fishing for walleye has been amazing since opener. MANY this size and larger which made my 87 year old Dad quite happy when he visited us last weekend. A number of keepers though but most above slot which is fine with me. Musky - been hunting, seen 4 but no hookups.

We made it to the Manitou Islands for the first time.

Fishing was decent and the weather you don't get to choose.

This wasn't my catch I just netted it but it came on a white jig tipped with worm just being dragged on bottom in 27ft. (Biggest of the day I think it was 22" or something)

Most fish were over the slot with only two under. Maybe that's why they go ice fishing that far out?

If the weather holds I might head out for a evening troll.
