I've been itching to get out and we finally did today. Winds were fairly light compared to the last week or so. We decided to go without the tent today and I'm glad we did since it was quite nice out after being cooped up in the house the last little while.
There were at least 15 people on the ice and looked solid. When we drilled the hole we found 5" of good black ice. The local bait shop didn't have minnows so we were using bare slab grabbers and salted minnows on bare hooks. I only marked one fish with my new toy. I had a couple of light hits but no hookups and the same story with Glenn.
The group beside us caught a couple of nice pike as did another group out a little further. They were using live bait which I'm sure would have helped our chances.
It was great to get out again on the ice and our earliest start ever.

Your outing was better than my day at work. I have a new rod and lures that I'm dying to try out. I think you'll be very happy with your new ff once you have it dialed in.

FYI. I have the 4x also. Keep the brightness level at 5,6 tops. Any higher and you'll drain the battery quick. I was able to get about 30hrs off one charge using it at that level. I fish in a hut most of the dày so I'm able to run it at 5. Learned the hard way when I turned it up to 10 one time fishing outside. Battery was dead within an hour. No ff for the rest of the day. Bummer! I'm not a caveman you know!

Would definitely like to get together with as many people as we can this season. Always makes for a good time.
BOQ sounds like a great idea if we can get a little M&G going as well. I have a few waypoints but not sure of the currents there so if anyone has more knowledge of the area to set something up would be great.
One of the first things I did was lower the brightness on the FF as I know it kills batteries. We were out for 2 hours and still have over 80% battery left. With these batteries, do you top them up after each outing or just charge when it gets low?
