Gilford frozen right across the bay. Average 4 inches of ice. Going to try there later in week.

Looks good! Forecast says around or just above freezing mark for end of week. Will that affect the ice this early in the year at all? I'm assuming it will get thicker through this week if it stays cold. I'd like to get out on cooks soon but want to make sure it's good and safe first since I have a bit of a drive just to get to simcoe. Appreciate the updates from all on the conditions!

Stopped by the end of 89 yesterday. There was a portable about 300 yards out . I drilled the ice and saw 4 inichs of black ice before the bit popped through.

All signs point to some good ice making weather for the next two weeks aside from one warm day. If it stays this cold we may see plenty of huts before christmas. I also talked to a friend that lives on the river in keswick and says 7 inches of ice and lots of snowmobile traffic already.

The little bit of rain if it comes Friday will actually be good. It will knock the snow cover down and get rid of the snow insulator, makes ices faster.

I agree. A lot of the current ice is also very choppy and made up of small chunks that blew in on the west wind last week, so makes for a very rough walk. A little smoothening (is that a word?) will help.

Weather forecast is a high of +1 on Friday and then sinking again, that won't bother the ice one bit.

if it gets overt +1 I would be very surprised. Even if it did it would do nothing but good
