I have never used Swammers, how big should I go with, and how do I rig them.

Berkley White Tube and the Pearl Simcoe Swammer on a 1/2 oz football jig…killer when presented the right way.

I did catch a whitey last year on a bad bays tipped with an artificial minnow.

Can't go wrong with those 3 thats for sure.

Good luck!!

Cheers

Hey hillbilly,

I met Will out on the ice a couple years back,, he was using a flasher and a swammer, first time I ever seen one used,,,WOW!!! I just got a flasher for xmas (still wrapped as we speak) and there is no way I would go on the ice without the two put together,, amazing chasing fun show!!! makes the williams seem boring,,, j/k

My three go to laker lures last year were:
1 - swimbait
2 - lipless crank
3 - tubes

I have always preferred smaller baits, 2 3/4" - 4", with tubes on the smaller side and swimbaits in the 3.5-4" range. My biggest issue with big baits is that you miss a higher percentage of the hits, because there is that much more space between the hook and the bottom of your bait on the chase.

White is obviously a good colour, but last year we did some serious experimenting and found some of the more unorthodox colours and swimbaits (not always swammers) to produce better. This year, a friend put together some of the most productive colours and teamed up with bass magnet to make some really top notch custom baits I can't wait to get my hands on (picking them up on wednesday).

Lou, your gonna love that flasher! Let me know if you have any questions or make it down to simcoe this year.

Here is a cool video…..pretty much sums it up. Even though it targets the Walleyes….these all work on Simcoe…..my personal opinion of course!

Enjoy!
