Hey Guys,

Saw this on Facebook.

YRP took a video today according to thier account of the ice on Lake Simcoe.
they show a pressure crack that is reported to run from duclos Point to Georgina Island.

Be safe out there. With 5 to 10cm of snow tomorrow forecast it may cover cracks...

They should really stop with this crap. Maybe they could do something useful like investigate break ins instead of wasting more money flying around showing pictures of pressure cracks… Who is to say that is even of lake Simcoe after the last BS pic they posted.. Irritating.. to say the least..

Happy Monday everybody

Waste of taxpayers money.
Great job on finding a pressure crack!!!
Now stop messing around and get to work.

I know that is Simcoe since we drove by it on Saturday. We couldn't believe how high it was, maybe 4ft at some points. We didn't get too close but would be scary to come across it during a snowstorm on a sled or ATV when you are not expecting it.

Since we haven't been ice fishing for many years and mainly perch fishing, we don't see too many pressure cracks, but this one looked quite high. I agree that they should be out catching criminals and I'm not sure if there usually is a pressure crack here but a simple warning is fine.

Hi Folks:

I also agree - its hard to trust the YRP regarding any of their posts concerning the safety of the ice/lake after the BS they tried to pull off early this winter.

I recall a few years ago when I was personally stopped by a police officer as I was about to walk out onto the lake. I was informed the ice was not safe and to stay off the lake. I advised the officer that I appreciated his concern for my health and safety but I had just walked across the lake because I lost a set of keys and thought they maybe in the parking lot. Also, I advised the officer I had just driven a full size F150 pick-up truck pulling a trailer which were both loaded with building materials (not sure of the total weight but the entire load was quite heavy) so I was more than certain I didn't have anything to worry about by walking across the ice. We had checked the ice thickness the night before and if my memory serves me correctly there was at least 24 inches of black ice - otherwise we would not have attempted to take a load of building supplies out on the ice.

So basically at this point I take the ice/lake reports from any police force with a grain of salt but rather check the thickness etc. for myself.

That's all for now, Nancy

that pressure crack is probably the most reliable one on the lake allways forms and have seen it heaved up real high.
