Has anyone been fishing the Salmon around Owen Sound. Can you still catch them from the wall or is going to Thompson's Hole the best bet. Is 10 feet off bottom still the norm and what seems to be working i.e. minnow baits, Blue Fox spoons or something else.
Is anyone catching Rainbows yet.
Near to the area and the downrigging sport so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Not much going on with the salmon, the odd one here and there, no size either. A few Steelies around makes it fun to catch them. A few Lakers around to and people are still catching the WF on the East side in 65 fow.
Tight Lines

WF and steelhead are being caught on single eggs or 2 eggs on bottom either single hook or a size 14 treble. also try long lining for the steelhead with a minnow bait along the east side in 8 - 15 ft of water. A few trout being caught in the harbour same tactics.
Good Luck to all

Wow interesting. I actually tried using salmon roe/spawn for whitefish in Lake Simcoe one year and caught nothing. I guess the Georgian Bay whitefish feed on spawn regularly.

Yes our WF are fickled (no it is the standard way everyone fishes them here) in Simcoe everyone use lures and pretty much verticals jigs. Of course the use of minnows to.
If you try jigging in Owen sound and I believe Wiarton (Colpoys Bay) you will likely leave empty handed. Don't get me wrong some fish are always caught jigging here but not many and those are caught in 70 fow 30 to 40 ft off bottom.

NOTE**In that deep of water bring your chum can.
