Hi Folks:
I know for the most part members of this board are considerate of others out on the lake but in past years - late in the season - some people have forgotten their actions while on the ice affect or impact others.
Just a few things to keep in mind over the remaining days of white fish, lake trout along with the permanent ice hut season on Lake Siomcoe as outlined below:
1. For those who will be removing their permanent ice hut over the next few days please keep in mind the shore line and/or ramps have started to break down which will continue when the temperatures approach zero or in the event it ever raises above zero. When removing your ice hut please keep in mind other people will need to use the ramps and/or shore line for several more weeks and in would be greatly appreciated if you do not destroy the ice on the the ramps.
2. Also, please make sure to place a marker(s) to outline the opening where your ice hut had been located so no one falls into the open hole.
The reason I mention the above is due to the fact several years ago late in the season I went out on the lake early one morning at which time the ramp was in excellent condition. The temperature hovered around zero which apparently softened the snow and ice around the ramp. Someone driving a large pick-up lost control of their truck when they hit the ice and tore up the ice and then got stuck and had to be towed out. After the truck was towed out there was a gapping hole (10x10 foot hole approximately) at the bottom of the ramp which made it impossible for anyone else to use the ramp to exit the lake. I know I was not the only person who had to scramble to find an alternate place to exit the lake as a result of the large hole at the bottom of the ramp. I hope this type of problem can be avoided this year.

great post nancy,as you know things happen when the ice starts to soften,it is not done on purpose and people need to get the huts off, take it a little slower people and it will help the shoreline survive a little longer.
