Lots of bass being caught on Lake Weslemkoon. Lake depths in our area go from 2-4 feet in the shallows along rocky edges and stumps to 10-15 feet in the middle of the small bays. The bays open up to deep holes for trout. To date our guests have only gone out for bass and have been very successful. Cast and retrieve is working well along the shores with 2 to 2 1/2 crank baits, jig heads with scented twister tails, and surface baits. Early morning and after dinner colours seem to be bright charteuse with orange or green on top. Deeper trolling is working on some shallow rapalla divers. The recent bass tournament out of Tanglewood marina had the winner at a 4.8 lb bass. Tons of fun can be had also in still fishing with a worm and float, the Rock bass just swarm and this type of fishing provides hours of enjoyment for the kids. The fishing can only get better as late august and september come around and the water cools a little. Come on up for some great bass fishing. We will post pictures and info as we go.

Thanks for the fishing report Whitey!
A 4.8lb Largemouth is a solid bass, send pics if you have any..

PS: I'll be posting fishing maps for your lake and others in your area soon!

Is this mainly a largemouth lake? Any smallmouth bass being caught? Never fishing in Bancroft. Any walleye lakes in the area??

Fish species present in Lake Weslemkoon include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, lake trout, brook trout, rockbass, perch and sunfish. Largemouth bass is the dominate species.

There are walleye in nearby Baptiste Lake.

As stated, the lake has both smallies and large mouth. You are likely to catch more large mouth in the weedy areas, and smallies off rock ledges and stumps. Fraser Lake also nearby has walleye. Cheers, Whitey
