Hello everyone, it's been a while since i'v been on the forum and a while since i last fished Georgian Bay. I grew up in Wasaga Beach and Collingwood, used to fish every day at the mouth of Notty, mouth of the Pretty River in Collingwood and the mouth of the Beaver in Thornburry. Since i moved to Hamilton in 2005 fishing isn't the same (no lie) i don't feel safe eating the fish i catch, so i release

My Dad still lives in Wasaga Beach and i'm heading up there in 2 weeks for a week. I would like to do some fishing with him, father son time.. I'm thinking 1 - 1 1/2 hours drive from Wasaga Beach. I would love to go back up to Sault Ste Marie and fish Tilley's Lake but that's a 6 hour drive lol. I don't mind what kind of fish we catch just if we catch some thing, even if we don't, "A bad day of fishing, is better then a good day at work"

Do you have a boat or are you fishing from shore? Let me know your situation gearwise and i'll send you some suggestions.

Thanks Admin, we just fish from shore. Normal set up and gear, no weighters or anything. We both have 6' rods, line any where from 1lb up to 10. I usually keep 4lb on all the time. Depending the area i just use a split shot and egg sinker. or to stay off the bottom bell sinker and depends on how high you want off the bed of the river you put the hook (set up i use for ice fishing).

thanks

You can fish the Nottawasaga River at the Oxbows, nearly aways something swimming there. Still fishing worms on bottom usually catches you something. The piers at Collingwood harbour also holds fish. Fish the rocky shoreline and around the boat docks, some smallmouth bass there. Minnows work best, but jerk/stick baits in minnow patterns work great too. You can fish Thornbury as well this time of year. Use spinners, some smallmouth bass hanging around there.
