ahaha made it last night and forgot to post about it.


The banana superstition is pretty serious down state...some charthers for deep sea fishing they check in your lunch while on the dock to make sure you have no banana's of any kind.

It also has risen to another level last year when a pro angler put banana's in his buddies livewell at one of the big tournament to mess with him. The guy went banana's lol

So now you tell me. I stop taking salmon or tuna sandwiches to eat, now banana's any other food tips you care to share.

This one of the more common explanations for the superstition:

"The most plausible historical root for this superstition comes from the time of transatlantic crossings in wooden sailing ships. Back in the 17th and 18th century, crossing the Atlantic was a very dangerous endeavor. It was not uncommon for a vessel to make a stop in a tropical destination to pick up some essential provisions such as food and water. The crew would often bring wooden crates full of bananas onboard and these crates would hold a variety of stowaways including snakes, vermin, bugs and venomous spiders. Stowaways that would give deadly bites spreading disease and quickly attempt to take over the ship."

At any rate, I don't mess with superstitions like this. No Chequita's on my boat.

I saw that on last night's episode....too funny. I think Jonathan Hilstrand did mention however that the fishing wouldn't improve until the crew crapped out the banana remnants over the rail. There was definitely references to this old superstition...the timing was epic!

There are many superstitions I learned in past few decadeds.

bananas is one.

So is opening any can upside down.means you will sink

no black baggage on board....link to illness and Dr. medical kit

no knives in stuck into any woodwork, again sinking

Last......sunflower seeds......husks etc, clogs up bilge pumps..........that one has happened to me twice

That one big fat shrimper on a show was doing terrible and low and behold he said there was something bananas on the boat . They found it and dumped the cake . Fishing improved .

I get the heebie jeebies, goosebumps and hives from those things . Not in my boat you don't . Just the thoughts of bananas in this thread is giving me the heebie jeebies .
