Arrived at Glen Echo last saturday and was on the water by 11. Great stability with the weather previous to our arrival which made for some good fishing until wednesday or so. Boated 60 the first two days and totalled over 120 Walleye for the week. Only 3 were over 18.1", we had 18.5, 19 and a 20". Someone nearby caught a beauty 26". All the good stuff was out at night on the flats as per my usual anyway. Mostly small pike in the bay and accidental aggressive bass. Couple jumbo perch for the fryer as well. Wednesday and thurs. good down poor rain but we stayed out in it with good gear and trolled around in the bay 8-15' deep. Try gold lures that go around 3-8' down... hands down the best for us on the troll. Other then that the typical jigging. MNR stopped us but were just doing their job and I was happy to see them. Apparently some good fines have been laid for no licence or small fish which I applaud as I witnessed guys keep some 14-15"ers and had a word with them. I really don't get the new size limit as those bigger ones are the breeders, however if it takes me 120 that I would of kept down to 3 of the 120, then I guess it will really cut back the total amount of how much walleye everyone will be keeping from now on. Normally, I would have kept 4 for myself every night before and now lucky to keep one. That is the only explanation for the walleye population to grow I can think of if were all keeping the bigger fish. Had a great week and a special thanks to Glen Echo, extremely hospitable and their fleet of boats are amazing. They clearly work hard to give you a relaxing vacation. Tight lines everyone.
