Hey guys, my family has owned a cottage on Kashagawigamog in Haliburton for over 40 years but I am new to the sport. I got hooked on it from ice fishing this winter with friends, love it now!
I moved to Barrie from Toronto and bought a house after I finished school a few years ago, finally got a canoe and a 16ft tinner this year.
In the winter we targeted whitefish and lakers, we had unbelievable luck with the whiteys, not as much with lakers.
So far this spring/summer I've really enjoyed pike and bass fishing. While at my cottage on Kashag I've done some musky and walleye (pickerel) fishing in my tinner but have only managed to land one 2-3lb walleye. The bass and perch fishing is great around my cottage and this season I caught the biggest bass thats ever been caught off my dock. A nice fat smallie, didn't weigh it because she was still spawning I think so I got her back in the water quickly.
I'm still hoping to catch a musky soon but for right now will take whatever I can get!
Glad to be a part of the community! Ive learned a lot already.

Cheers!

Mike

Welcome aboard Mike, good having you. You can get a good education from this site, and many like it. Watch all the fishing shows, pay attention to what they say, and what they do. Read magazines, a few can be found online as ezines. Ask questions, no dumb question except the one not asked. A good boat, and the best electronics you can afford. A good electric trolling motor, doesn't have to be a bow mount, but they're nice. That's all you need, and you can catch good fish from shore. But only if you have to. Good luck, good fishing, keep your line tight.
