We believe that big ones should be released to breed. Large older fish also contain a lot of contaminants.

X2.. Let the older bigger fish go on to spawn . Good on you guys for letting the bigger females swim away .

Not just bass but in any specie of fish.

a 2lbs fish will taste much better then a 4-7lbs fish.

They are Small ones not large ones.. mouths that is..... They are pretty big fish though..

As long as they don't have a size limit for these.. people are allowed to keep whatever size they want.. With the price of fish at the supermarket, not to mention cost to go fishing.. keeping the fish they catch to eat makes it even more fun and worth while for them..I don't personally like keeping bass, but on occasion will keep a few small to medium sizers..

Smaller fish may be more tasty and less contaminants but a big salmon, trout, whitefish, etc... smoked/cooked the right way will make you want to keep coming back for more.. and out of the right body of water, wont have much contaminants .. With a good day on the water, you might come home with a few hundred dollars worth of fish you dont have to buy at the store..

Good answer, with the dollars we put into this hobby, lic/tax/gas/equipment, and apparently still legal to eat them also?

Used a goby for bait?! I would go and re read the rules if I were you.

I would also checkread a few study on fish who feed on goby (Goby feeds on Zebra Mussels).
Not very healthy for you.
