Hey all, I have a quick question.I recently bought a deep cycle battery for the boat, I got the downriggers and motor both hooked up to it but I heard I shouldn't use a deep cycle to start the motor. I had to boost it last time I was out there and would like to hear others thoughts on this.
I'm going to buy a separate starter battery just for the motor but was wondering what your guys preferences are. What kind of charger should I get with it.
Also, the motor seems to at times choke and as soon as I prime the ball, away she goes, would that have anythin to do with the battery or is it sounding more like a carbeurator issue?

I am no expert, but I have always been told that a starter battery will crank out a big charge til the end, and a deep cycle lets out the charge a more "mellow" rate.
One is designed to start the motor with a kick the other is to power items as mentioned.
