Hey guys
I am going to be trailering a boat back from the U.S. this week and was wondering if a transom saver is needed? I have done a lot of reading on the net and the opinions are about split. Lets here what you guys think.

I think they are definitely worth it. My uncle and a family friend bought new boats in the 90s and didn't use transom savers .. Both boats had the transoms come apart in the last year and they needed few thousand dollars in repairs.

I bought my boat used without transom saver. Soon after, going down a very bumpy road the transom broke. Engine hung down. Wile I boated that day on electric motor it was disappointing.
At home figured out that was the plate holding everything together that broke. Ordered two from manufacture. When arrived was a real pain/ challenge to replace as I didn't have a lift to take off the 30hp engine.
I now ALWAYS use transom saver. Even then I'm cautious on bumpy roads.
