We are loaded and almost ready to head to Nipissing. Will be joined by my spouse and parents. Hope to push off from KW around 7am, with any luck the boat will be in the water by 2pm. Have been making this annual trip for 45 yrs. While my Dad has been coming the Nipissing for more than 65yrs. How's the fishing been the past week or so and does any one have an update with regards to the shad flies, are they finished.

Will try to give a short daily update as the week goes.

Arrived Saturday and boat was in the water by 4pm, but the cold beer kept me on shore. Sunday the wind was up and although we got out for an hour couldn't get past Smith Island and ended up heading in.

This morning (monday) we got out from 9-11am (rain and wind kept me from finding a partner) but wife came out with me at 9 and out fished me. We ended up with 7 pickerel all were thrown back to grow some more. Two largest were 17 1/4 inches. Wife also landed a nice 4.5 lb bass that put up a good little fight.

Looking to get back out after dinner or earlier tomorrow morning.

Wednesday, temperatures have dropped and the wind is still blowing, don't see us hitting the water today, so headed into North Bay. Hoping for a better day tomorrow and Friday.

Thursday we heade out to a shoal and saw thousands of dead shad floating on the surface. Fish suspened in 15 feet of water when bottom was 25feet. Had a couple of small bass and a perch and a real nice pike was lost at the boat.

Friday we headed back to the same shoal, we caught 10 pikeral all under 18 inches plus a couple of perch and a small small mouth bass. All returned to swim another day.

Next year will bring some frozen pickeral from Costco for our fish dinner, Salmon just didn't do it.
