Quick question on retail sale tax on a boat. I purchased a boat back in may 11 2011 (private sale), I no longer have this boat because I sold it approx. 2yrs ago. I have just received a retail sales tax boat payment in the mail today for the boat mentioned above. Do I still have to pay the taxes on this boat? I remember a discussion on this board a whileback that if it has been over 2 1/2 yrs you don't have to pay, is this correct ?

Pretty sure you will have to pay.....if you didn't pay it when you had it in your name. I paid the tax when I transferred my boat and 2.5 years later they sent al letter and wanted me to pay again but just sent them a copy of receipt all was good.... You would of thought they'd know the tax was all-ready paid stupid gov
