Here's a great salmon report for the local rivers:

Without sounding too overly optimistic, October looks like it’s going
to be strong. The rain in forecast, though not heavy, is steady and
should make for a nice, gradual rise of water levels. Water
temperatures are on par for the season and dropping nicely so the
combination should put fish in the rivers and we’ll see good
opportunities by the 1st week.

-The Grand is getting respectable numbers of steelhead. On the 23rd, we
watched a good number of fish at the Caledonia dam and the slight spike in
flows last week would have put a good number over the dam. My friend, took a nice hen that morning, making for our first fish of the season. Last week I saw a fish as high as Whitman’s Creek and although one fish usually isn’t worth reporting, it is harbinger and it’s safe to assume that the Grand will have fishable numbers in the next week.

-The Saugeen still needs water and on my last visit (Sept 16th) I saw
nothing to convince me that there were fish in any meaningful numbers. A
week can make a big difference though and the Saugeen did get a little hit
of water so my sense is October will be strong.

-The Bighead is taking water but has not come up enough to make it a
serious contender. That said, with the rain coming this week, it should
come into its own. Fingers are crossed.

-The Maitland took some water too and had a modest spike so it more than
likely brought some fish into the lower end but I’d be cautious heading to
Huron this week.

-The Lake Ontario tributaries remain low. The Credit has some salmon but
I have no intel on Bronte.

I know the report sounds a little wishy washy but if it tells us
anything, it tells us that the rain over the last couple of weeks has
been filling the ground and that means that more and more will be
running off into the rivers with subsequent rain falls. The future
precipitation has the makings for near perfect conditions. It’s still
early but I can’t help being optimistic.

On the trout front, I have seen very good BWO activity all over the
region and I’ve been seeing some slate drakes about as well. Take
advantage of the conditions and look at getting in an a few hours of
quality dry fly fishing before your local stream shuts down.

All of these rivers except the notty are fairly small and fragile. They don't need anymore pressure then they already recieve from an open internet forum. Go out and explore them yourself.

THe notty is better then the sturgeon, coldwater or hog I think. The runs of all three of those rivers put together is a small fraction of the the number of fish that run up the notty.
