Just returned from a cold but very fun weekend trip to the cottage.
We had planned to go out friday evening and keep 3 or 4 of the decent sized crappie we caught for saturdays dinner, unfortunately, that didn't work out lol. We didn't catch a single crappie, our usual spot just was not producing. We were getting some half decent largies, rock bass, and perch, but just not what we were hoping for while out in the boat. We probably put in about 7 hours in the boat over the weekend.
Back at the cottage off the dock was a different story! There are no crappie in this area but the smallies and largies were hitting more than they have in 10 years. It was so good to see. We caught about 6-8 good size bass off the dock ranging from 1.2-4.2 lbs, with a bunch of perch and rock bass thrown in there. Saturday it rained most of the day until about 4pm but that didn't stop me from suiting up in rain gear and catching a couple off the dock. The biggest was caught using a little crank/slash bait but the majority were caugt on top water. The water is still 65 degrees so its quite a bit warmer than the air.
Here's a few pics.
