Went out this evening to rice - first time in about 2 weeks or more.

Tried a few places - noted that in most areas the weed was down or gone! Water temperature about 74F.

No action till sun disappeared and the wind picked up. From one of my regular spots had a few hits and managed to land 2 crappies. All in matter of minutes all around the boat. Then half hour later picked out this walleye at 14".

If chance tomorrow will weigh the cleaned fish. I think more from the 2 crappies at 9" and 9.5" then the 14" walleye.

Lately I've been getting Wally's with broad shoulders d so I'm gonna say the Wally will be more meat.

Nice catch..

That's a tough one, 2 crappie or 1 walleye.. Hmmm..

It's going to be close, I will say the crappie will win by a hair jig..

Decent haul!

Id say the crappie will produce a little more meat, they look like fattie crappie!

Just checked my fish estimator. The 9" and 9.5' are .4, and .5 lbs. It starts at 15' for walleye, and gives us 1.1 lbs. So, maybe 1.0 for 14' of eye? A shade more. Maybe more actual meat value from a crappie. Depends on who fillets them.

We rushed home Tuesday and cooked the fish right away. Didn't get chance to weigh or take pictures of the finish product.

I think that the 2 crappies gave a little more meat than the 14" walleye.

Fish fillets this size are very quick to cook! All are same thickness . . .

Note that I wasn't targeting the crappies - they were there for a short few minutes.

It's been a few times that I've noticed chappy in this location so will go back. Perhaps next time will target them but using smaller hook on my jig with the trigger-x.
