hello,i just signed up here and hope to learn as much as i can.
i dont get to get out much these days (i can count on one hand) kids, work, life get in the way
i live in stoney creek, hamilton area. i dont do any fishing around here really and always prefer to go north or the kawartha's.
i mainly fish for LM bass and pike, although the bass has taken a backseat this last 2 years to more pike fishing and a bit of walleye here n there.i'm slowly starting to learn more about musky fishing and would love to hook into one.
i always catch and release because i dont care much for eating fish lol.

anyways,tight lines!

Welcome aboard. Love pike fishing too. You gotta try cooks bay on simcoe. There's some nice ones to be had there.

Since you like the Kwartha's, try your luck on Canal lake. A lot of large mouth bass to be caught. Good luck!

thanks for the welcome and the advice.
ive been told about cooks many times but i hear more about people getting skunked on cooks than catching anything.plus i hear the waves can get hairy quickly on cooks and i'd crap myself in my 14' tin boat lol

i'll try to get out to canal and give it a shot. i was thinking balsam this weekend if i can escape the house and if the weather co-operates a little.

Canal is a smaller lake, won't really get too rough (nowhere near cooks at least), and a 14 footer is perfect size for that lake.

If you're looking to launch, take Centennial Park road north (coming off of Regonal Rd 48). Once you cross the lake on Cent. Park, it strattles the shoreline, here you will find a boat launch.

If you decide to try it out, good luck!

A smaller gem, and just outside the Kawartha's just east of Apsley is Chandos Lake. An excellent Pike fishery. It's beauty is it's close proximity to Stony Lake. A good source for Bass, Walleye, Crappie, Perch, and the toothy Muskellunge. I prefer to cast, but will give the nod to trolling to dredge up the true monsters. Have fun, and keep your bait wet.
