Hello all.
I am new to the board and wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Jay, i'm from Michigan and have been fishing the Upper French/Nipissing watershed for the last 25 years with my father.
We love the area and the people. It is my favorite place to be.

Glad to be here!

Cheers Gentleman....and Ladies

Welcome Jay. I am from PA and we hit the West Arm / west Bay of Nippissing for the musky opener each year and the lower French in September. We just returned from 2 weeks on the North Channel of the French and got totally skunked during the 2 weeks we were there. I never got skunked like that before. So, ow we wait for the West Arm next June.

Thank's richesox.
Too bad about your recent trip to the Lower. I see you have had good trips there too.
As i'm sure you know the French is one of the toughest Canadian Shield systems to fish for muskie. That's just how it is there sometimes.
30+ guys from my club (Muskies Canada, Sudbury Chapt.) just had a weekend outing on the West Arm at Memquisit Lodge. One muskie was boated, a 33 incher during the outing.
I've met lots of guys at the Lodge we stay at often get very dissapointed after their first trip because their more interested in "catching" and not putting their time in. I tell them their efforts would be better served at the Kawarthas or St. Clair.

Man, thats a lot of fishing hours with low return...I knew when I started targeting Musky around North Bay that I would be fortunate and happy with any success. Spent a few days late last October with nada to show, but managed Musky in all trips this season- June, July, August and September- total 6 musky between my girl and I ( she has the biggest t 45") Will be back on October again, and will make my way west to Nipissing next season, and the French...

Hey Musky Jay.
Great to see you and your father are still fishing together. When I ran into you (and your dad) at Lunge Lodge back in 05/06 it was one of the last Muskie fishing trips that I fished together with my father. Unfortunately, he passed in 2008 but was still fishing Muskie, in the worse of conditions all over the province, until he was 83. I miss those trips now......despite being able to fish with a few 'so called' renowned Muskie experts and personalities over the years......it's the combined knowledge I got fishing with my father during nearly 40 years of Muskie excursions that really still forms the foundation of what I know about the sport today. The positive musky confidence that allows me to feel I can come up with fish, in almost any condition, every time out.......comes from listening to my fathers extensive advice and knowledge of the fish, it's habits and it's movements. You can't learn one tenth of what you need to be successful in the sport each time out.....by watching fishing shows or reading magazines .......the time you spend on the water with another truly experienced and knowledgable Muskie fisherman is more valuable then all those things combined.
You're lucky.....cherish every last one of the remaining outings and trips you have with your dad. When you look back......they'll be the best thing you'll take away from the sport.
And it's great to see your dad's still knows how to kick your butt and get the biggest fish in the boat.
Good luck this fall.....and make sure your dad still gets the lead cast on that nice piece of structure or into that promising looking weed bed.

Grumpa,
Sorry to hear of your fathers passing.

I do cherish our time fishing together. Our trips are very special and the fish is just a small part of what it's all about.
