Yes... the salmon are in the Notty right now. I heard they were catching some nice silver ones still.
Where do you live? Pretty much any of the tribs that flow into Lake Ontario will be getting runs of salmon, and you can also fish off many of the piers that are around the lake. Gbay has some nice tribs, however, the public fishing areas are a little more limited compared to Lake O.
I personally like to wait until the weather becomes more inclement and then go out after the steelies and browns that are still in the rivers.

The "Notty" (Nottawasaga) River flows into Gbay in Wasaga. There are fall fishing opportunities right up to where the Boyne flows into her (Near Alliston).
You should be able to pick up browns and steelies in any of the afore mentioned streams, although I've always had more success on Lake O tribs.
I haven't been out the last two falls as I'm trying to beat a "personal best" with antlers. Damn trail cam says he's there, but I haven't seen him in person yet.

You might want to give Thornbury a try for some good steelhead and salmon action. Your best bet for a brown trout would be bronte creek or the credit river. Use spawn.

Right in downtown Thornbury, at the mouth of the beaver river. You can't miss it, always people fishing there. Walk out on the foot bridge and you should see fish in the river.

Hey kc33,
Thornbury in on the 26 hwy between Collingwood and Meaford. Not a big town when you 1st come into town you have a grocery store and 2 motels on your left. You are about 300 yrd from the river. Some people park at the goverment bldg right beside the river; others will cross over the river and turn right for the other side of the river not a huge stretch to fish about 400 yrd from the lake to the dam.
WARNING from the dam to the wire strung across the river is a sanctuary just below the hwy; if you fish the Government bldg side it's where the fish ladder wall fence / stairs. We will do a lot of night fishing here when the fish are in.

I used to love fishing Thornbury in the fall back in the day. Used to be tons of fish this time of year, Chinooks, Coho, Steelhead, Pink Salmon and Splake. Caught my biggest splake there near 7lbs. Lots of people back then too. Still lots of fisherman there today, but alot less fish. Only night fished it once, and skunked. Are the fish biting in the dark?

Yes the fish will bite in the dark difference is a lot less fisherman in the dark. A few years ago caught my first night time laker there. The season was closed so had to let it go but as nice fight in the dark. I was in Owen Sound Harbour last night there is a lot of fish in there right now. in about 20 - 30 minutes saw about 50 fish jump or roll. Did not stay to fish and did not see anyone hook any while I was there from 8:00pm till 8:30.

NICE!! Thanks for the report. I have fished the pier at Owen Sound a few times, nice strong fish there. What are you using in the dark. I was using spawn. Are you float fishing with light bobbers?
