Greetings - I have long fished Balsam at our cottage, and have ATV'ed along the Burnt River. It is a very attractive river so I am interested in doing a little kayak fishing. Can anyone share some nice spots to fish, and where along the river I would enter with a kayak.

I am an avid night fall walleye fisherman in the Kawartha's. Before my buddy an I hit up our usual shore fishing spots on Friday evening we decided to scout the Burnt River in Kinmount. We found a dam there and noticed a couple portage signs above and below the dam. You can potentially put in there? as for fishing spots im pretty sure its against the rules in this board to give out exact fishing locations or gps cords. Hope this kinda puts you on the right track.

Thanks JMF. I know the spot - have been by many times on snowmobile and ATV. I am thinking of using the ATV and transporting a smaller kayak, starting in Fenelon and driving towards Kinmount. I have seen lots of nice looking spots that seem kind of remote. I am wondering if the river is not fished that hard. If I can get between 2 portage points, there may be a place with limited boat traffic.

There's a public boat launch right in Burnt River you can access. It's a great river. Lots of smallies. I've often thought of jump shooting ducks from a canoe on the river. Good luck.
