Hey guys how's it going? Me and my cousins will be heading up to Sturgeon lake for some Muskie fishing from Friday to Sunday weekend of thanksgiving, we will be staying at waters edge ... Never fished at Sturgeon, I would like some tips and which areas of the lake to look for them, we did a lot of musky fishing at little bald lake and big bald, very nice place for musky!!! Cheers

Water temps are still high so the muskie should be pretty active still. Trolling around weedlines, wind swept points and drop offs should be productive. We hook the odd one at night walleye fishing mid to late fall while presenting a slow but steady presentation so if you notice the temps start to drop slow your presentation down and possibly your bait size. The muskie in Sturgeon are hit pretty hard so they are a bit picky but keep at it and you should get some nice ones. Good luck and tight lines and don't forget to give us a report!

Sorry for your loss, good on u guys for keeping up that tradition. I would say bucktails would be good for a fast approach. If that doesn't seem to do it slow it down with some jerk baits I.e bull dawgs, shadzilla, suick...etc. the last muskie I got out of sturgeon was in the mid summer of 2013 on a 6" rapala sub walk but I don't know how effective that would be in the fall. Like I said earlier, while walleye fishing at night we hook into muskie using 3" twister tails but rarely land them because of the 8 to 10 lbs braid we use. It's hard to say what muskie baits work best on sturgeon, just experiment with different baits and sizes and I'm sure you guys will dial them in.
