Put this together last week, current format holds 12 rods and a decent number of extra utility boxes, I could add up to 6 more rod holders no problem, but purposely left one side free of slots so it can be placed flat against the wall.
1-1/2" abs, a file crate, zip ties, and some foam from an old camping mattress.

Thanks for the positive comments. I saw a few different ideas while researching rod storage options, and chose to hybridize 2 different ones I saw/learned about. Hope it can be of use, even if some of you choose to improve upon it, please post. I am always eager to expand my own knowledge, and of course always happy to share that which i have.

Could definately do it with PVC, I just used the ABS because I had it lying in the garage, and beside, I thought the black on black looked pretty cool, even had the black zip ties to keep it all monochromatic.
