I find fishing the 40-60 feet of water produces bigger lakers.If I fish any deeper the lakers seem smaller but maybe it is the location I fish which is the sudbury area.

I agree on not as deep for the bigger ones. I find they tend to cruise the upper 1/2 of the water. That and they are not very common compared to the smaller ones. I leave a tip up down about 30 ft and fish with a rod a short distance away. I really don't mind catching the smaller ones as that's what I'm after to eat anyways. Good luck.
