Well the good news is there is very little snow on the ice ...the bad news is the ice is mainly 2-4 inches of slush ice with a layer of water and then bout 2-3 inches of good ice....The chisel hit water in 2 taps and I mean taps .....I walked out to the landing zone for the Blueberry and although it seems okay for walking and day fishing, I think it will be another week before the lake will be ready for machine travel and the new hut. Dammit!!!!!
There were about 6 portables on the ice and a few open air guys fishing but I didn't get any reports as it was to cold to hang around.

Ice has tightened right up with very little snow on top ...fishing since Sunday has slowed but that's just due to the big changes in weather/bar pressure I believe ...it should pick up soon ...good luck Tipster

Went out yesterday to Windermere. It was extremely slow. Started in 74 FOW and moved about 100 yards in and was on 40 FOW. Only managed to land one 1/4 pounder! Marked a few but they were not interested at all.
Suds- Is it normal to consistently have bubbles come up the hole?

Yeah the bubbles are normal as the whole area is thick mud with previous vegetation rotting giving off gases....its kinda freaky seeing a six inch bubble popping in the hole...lol....I usually can see them coming up from the bottom on the finder ....
Fishing has been slow so far this year compared to previous years. I sure hope it picks up ...stayed out last Thurs night and got into some ling ..one caught on over 6lbs and another over 3lbs ...lost about 4 or 5 have way up ....all caught after dark between 6-9 pm..I haven't been skunked on the laker front yet but have had several outings where only one fish and that was over 3-5 hours as I said it's been a tough yr ....one thing, I caught a black crappie last wed...sure hope they are not the reason.....to my knowledge they are not native to the lake.

Maybe the mnr put the crappie in the lake to take the pressure off the lakers from DB! Lol. We all know he's fond of them and been slaying the lakers this year! You never know
