Well my friends the long wait is over. Tackled everything mother nature could throw at us at 615 this morning and headed up to lake rosseau to hopefully get into some laker action. Left the orillia area under freezing rain, rain and snow but my buddy driving exercised extreme caution and got us there safely. We didn't really know what to expect as far as ice conditions go as there had been a lot of variations in reports. Mainly because its a large lake and conditions of the ice can vary from one area to the next. The three of us accessed the lake through a friends cottage outside Port Carling to fish a bay we have had great success in previous outings in the past. Ice conditions were better than expected, with very little snow cover, 8_10" of soft ice. We fished in 67fow using different strategies,of course I stuck with my slipfloat method while the others used tip ups and jigging techniques. At the end of the day we ended up with 19 lakers 1 herring and 1 ling. Great day on the lake for our first time out, fish were mostly eater size in the 1.25 to 2.5 range. Ah yes its started!! Pics to follow
