Hey everyone, I ventured out to Paudash lake yesterday. I planned on walking out with all of my gear but 1 foot of snow and 2 feet of slush said otherwise. I ended up walking 20 metres and turned around soaked and half frozen. Luckily for me I had extra pair of clothes and boots in the car. Instead of going home I went and visited Brian over by the anchorage. After a nice chat he was more than happy to take me over to one of his huts and within minutes I was catching fish. First 5 minutes I landed a beautiful lake trout under the slot, I gave him a nice fat kiss for good luck and sent him back hoping to get some bigger ones for the table. 10 minutes later i landed a nice 2 pound Paudash "Whitefish" that I kept. After an hour or so of testing out some lures, I sent down my minnow again and Bam another Laker under the slot. I threw him beside my white fish and kept fishing. I ended the day landing 3 lake trout, 1 whitefish and 4 rock bass. Taking home 2 lake trout and the whitefish. Fishing from 12 pm to 4:30 pm. Graphed lots of fish in the mean time, some bigger than others. I was super impressed with Brian as it was my first time meeting him and fishing with his huts. He supplies you with the perfect sized minnows for the fish. He's constantly moving his huts on the fish and doesn't keep his huts on the same spot year after year. He even has cabins available to rent so you can stay a few nights. A lot of Brians customers fish lake Nippissing as their "go-to" walleye lake, and Paudash lake as their "go to" lake trout lake. After Ice fishing both Lake Nippissing and Paudash lake this year, I can see why. Give Brian at the Anchorage Resort a call, He is on the fish and you won't be disappointed. 613-339-2675

Ugly whitefish but nice report and nice catch.... Did I mention that is one ugly whitefish. I am not fish racist... I like black crappie, yellow perch, bluegill, red snapper, whitefish, and many others. But that is one ugly whitefish! Lol

I was thinking of hitting that lake as well. Is it a far walk to get to the fishing area? I'm assuming that if I rent a hut with anchorage they would taxi me out. Ps nice catch

I think that whitie is a sucker not a chub.
Not a sucker as the sucker has round mouth towards bottom facing down.
A chub? Fall fish?
Looks like a lot of is don't know our fish past the frequently sported / caught . . .
fallfish is a variety of chub. A chub is a chub is a chub, just like a trout is a trout is a trout, unless it is a char... ok bad example A bass is a bass is a ... oh wait, rock bass..... darn it, is it any wonder people don't know what they are catching!
Agreed, that a lot of people don't know any of the less common fish species. Then there are the confusions between similar species. I think some of it comes down to people who like to fish vs people who like to fish and learn about it.
