Hello, and thanks everyone for having me on the message board... I have been skeptical of joining, but I figured with the winter we are having it would be a good idea to discuss ice conditions with other people in the know as I venture out.
I have been fishing since I was born. My best memories are in an old tin banger with my father and grandpa by my side. I'm hopelessly addicted.
My "personal best" came this summer when I took one of my best friends (who does not fish often) and his 6 year old daughter fishing in my dads old tin banger. After getting a pile of pan fish, and keeping the little girls interest for an hour and a half, I asked if they would mind if we trolled home. I took them through some of the best waters I know of, and on a hot sunny afternoon in July, I watched both my buddy and his 6 year old daughter reel up a walleye together! It was a double header!
The little girl was wide eyed and so excited, and she struggled to wind on her own, but with coaching from her dad and me, she managed to get the fish to the boat. I had the privilege of netting both fish, and for me, it was one of the best experiences I can remember. It still gets me misty thinking about it, and brings me back to my days learning to fish with my dad. 90% of the time I release my fish, but on a day like this one, it only seemed right to have a fish fry with our families.
I have caught plenty of fish in my 36 years, but I think with out a doubt, passing the torch to my friends children is by far my personal best.
Once again, thanks for having me aboard, and best of luck to all you fishermen out there!
