This past weekend my friend and i shore fished rice lake from gores landing to bewdley to the otonabee and all we managed was 4 gobies .. used worms jigs and spinners but saw no sign of fish other than the gobies , was thinking of trying scugog or simcoe from shore this weekend but may try rice again, does anyone know how to fish this time of year? Thanks

Tough from shore this time of year. Baitfish have moved out from shore and so have most of the fish as they are setting up around their wintering holes which are typically the deeper holes in the lake. Look for where their is a decent depth and some still healthy weeds and you might be able to find the remaining bass and panfish. if you get your boat out, try some of the deeper holes or the shoals off the holes for any actively feeding fish. Less than two weeks left for musky and bass before the kawarthas become a panfish only zone, hopefully we can still get some good reports in people!

The way the wether has been it is still possible to get out there, too bad most of us already winterized our boats.
