For anyone still fishing the long rod, I fished Port D today from 11-2 and got 2 sweet steelies, the water is perfect however the drift is slow, I was using Rainbow Skien out of 4lb hen I got last week, drift was to slow for streamers. The Niagara report today is water is about 2' vis and is clearing, Queenston may be really hot this weekend given the light winds, the river should be perfect by Friday/ Sat so anyone wanting to fish the long rod for Steel this weekend should be good. I live in Niagara and fish 3-4 times a week and talk to most steelheaders in the area, I will keep this thread open for information to anyone travelling down to fish. I know what it's like trying to get info and travelling miles only to find out your F$%Ked

Got 1 fish today on my third drift then nothing, east winds can slow up the bite, the Niagara is clearing up sweet, tomorrow should be perfect, if you want to get out to the Niagara do it in the next couple of days, by Tuesday they are calling for 50km west winds or sw winds which will turn the river to chocolate milk. The window is now and until Monday.......good luck and good fish'in, save me a few hahahahahah

The lower is muddy with less then a foot vis......the strong west winds dirty up lake erie and in turn the river, it was good last weekend, we need the winds to die out or come from the east or north before it will clear. Oh ya the upper looks like chocolate milk so it's a no go as well.

Port Dalhousie has about 12' vis, which also makes for a tough bite but I did manage 1 steelie yesturday about 6lbs.....only bite in 2 days of hard fish'in

I went to port Dalhousie and the whirlpool, conditions were good but my fishing sucked, didn't catch any fish.

How did you do?
