Checked the ice today and found mostly 5" in most places of good ice ...some places a little more and only one spot checked with just 4.5". There is still a slight crusty layer with less than an inch of water under it in places off the few trails heading out on the ice. Did see the ice boat crossing to Tobin ..staying on top of the ice...saw a snow machine cross from the Baldwins area ...oh yeah it's time!!!!!
So its good for walkers and almost the for the machines (imho) ...hoping to get the perm hut out by the weekend if not it will be the portable...I just can't wait anymore.
While on the ice had a nice chat with one open air fisherperson with nice eater on the ice. Chatted with local and his son on shore with a real nice trout about 3-5 lbs and a couple of other nice eaters.
Setup the eskimo quick flip 3 on the lawn to confirm it was still mouse hole free and remove any ice and snow that got past the cover sitting out in the weather the last few weeks ...no holes and in the same shape as last yr ...checked the auger and fishing tackle ....Rosseau here I come!!!!!
