Here's the info I got on that place, there are 2 sides of the lake a road runs through it. One side is shallow and has timber which I have fished in the winter looking for crappie and found only runt perch. The other side is much deeper and is patrolled by the conservation authority and they kick people off for trespassing apparently. I haven't tried that side of the lake and have never seen anyone else fish ot either. I can't give a accurate ice measurement but I do know the shallow side has been getting fished. Post a report if u give it a try good luck dude.

The ice is definitely not ready for machines yet. That being said I heard they are being really hard on people running sleds and atvs out there.
Fishing has been slow. Not many good perch or pike from what I have heard. I did get to big smallies there on the weekend and bass were all I seen on the underwater camera.
I punched so many holes last year trying to find crappies and had very little success.

Hey guys, I've been out to Guelph Lake three times in the past week, twice on the north side and once on the south. Managed to ice 2 smallies about 3-4lbs, sent right back obviously out of season. South side I managed a few perch but nothing spectacular. All the holes I punched showed 5-6" of Ice, good 4" of black and rest white. That being said I would recommend testing for yourself, safety first.
Last trip out was last evening and was decent, managed to find a little snack.

Fished the south side last week, fishing was really slow. From what I know they used to allow ice fishing on the north side (main lake) but they've stopped because of constant water level change, the ice there is simply unsafe, they will kick you out or charge you for trespassing. As for the snowmobiles, yes I've seen them there on the south side.

Hey lukasz, I've lived in Guelph and fished this lake every winter since 2009. Always seen lots of ppl fishing, and have never seen or heard of anyone being kicked off or charged. As I mentioned in my previous post I found a decent amount of ice everywhere I went, and wouldn't think of venturing out there if I felt the ice was unsafe.
The ice thickness was consistent where I drilled holes, that being said I understand the liability issues that some ppl present to the GRCA. Many To eager to head out without checking conditions, or they rely on info provided by someone else. Bottom line is we are all responsible for our own decisions, the ice I found was safe, but conditions can and do change quickly. Stay safe out there
PS. I have yet to see a CO at Guelph Lake during the hard water season, Not sure if anyone else here has?.

Yes I've read this and understand what their talking about with the lake levels, and the lake as a whole being a reservoir. Don't remember the last time they opened the dam in the winter, they typically release water in the fall, which causes the water level to fall. IMO this warning is posted to address the liability the GRCA would have, should someone find themselves in trouble out there, basically they've told people to stay off because they do not perform their own ice tests. Belwood lake is also a reservoir and the water levels are controlled by the dam. Levels here are also brought down in the fall, but they have continual staffing here, and therefore conduct ice tests to allow fishing in the winter.
Again, just have to ensure you take the proper precautions before heading out. Good luck if You do head out, my next stop will be simcoe next week if I can manage it.

Just a heads up - There was a CTV News report on Guelph Lake ice fishing on Jan.21st. I believe they interviewed Lisa Stocco and some fisherman on the lake that day.
Guelph Lake (north side only) has been closed to winter ice fishing for the past 8 years.
You are trespassing if you are on that side of the lake and subject to a fine if caught.
I know a buddy who was caught at Mountsberg Conservation area a couple of years ago. Same deal no fishing allowed but plenty of people doing it. The fine was $155 for trespassing on a closed conservation area. He said about 20 people were ticketed.
A lot of coin for a few crappie.
PS There is no CO at the park in the winter at Guelph Lake
