I just couldn't take the wait for simcoe hard water and headed to island lake
this morning for some pike and had a great 4 hours of fishing caught 8, kept 5, lost 2.
There's about 5" of black ice and 2 of white

Cut into steaks about 2" thick egg washed with a sea salt and pepper flour mix to taste pan fried served with lemon wedges, mash potatoes and either corn or peppery butternut squash

Mind you to get rid of the slime off the snot rockets there is a trick diluting white vinegar and water and soaking the fish for a lil while to extract the slime then rinse and there ready to cook or freeze any for another time
