Bought the 5 SI for the console last year when I got the boat, moving it up to the bow to make room for its big brother! This ice can't melt fast enough now.

I was very impressed with the Helix 5 SI last year, but it's just a bit small to look at the mapping when bouncing along at 50 mph. The details that I could see in some areas were amazing. Found structure and weed cover I never saw with standard sonar in years past. If you can afford side imaging, I suggest getting it, it'll make you a better fisherman for sure!

That's sweet. I love my SI as well. Curious, how fast are you able to go and keep a quality image with your SI and your standard sonar? I'm fairly certain I need to rejig mine.

The si transducer only works well at slower speeds ( up to about 10mph). It also puts up a huge wake because of the size of it. I have it set up above the bottom of the transom so it's not even in the water when on plane. I have a standard 2d transducer set at the right depth for picking up bottom at speed and a y-cable to connect the two transducers. In 2d mode the finder automatically picks up the standard transducer. I think the y-cable was about $40-$50 on Amazon.

I'm looking at one of those units for mapping a private lake. Just not sure it's going to do everything I'd like.

Are these HB units compatible with the i-Pilot Link?
Can it can be hooked up to a HB graph?
I have an i-Pilot w i-Pilot Link.

Just curious.

thx,

I haven't had a chance to use the 9si on the water yet ( hopefully this weekend), but from what I've read about it, you can link it with the I-pilot. I'm also excited to use it for mapping a couple smaller bass lakes that don't have charts. The manual says you can save 8 hours of mapping on the unit, which sounds like a fair bit. If you need more space you can get an extra mapping card that'll save way more info. The unit can take two cards at once so you can use a navionics card and a storage card at the same time.
