I find it funny this time of year, the same guys who are (including myself) itching to get on the ice cant wait for that open water season.

Just a fun poll to see where people stand. purposely didn't put equally excited because thats just a cop-out.

Ditto and especially this spring but, as the ice season in southern Ontario is so short, I'll have to go with safe ice.

safe ice hands down you bring out your gear and enjoy the comforts of a heated hut on solid ice compared to moving water. On windy days its no problem just bring extra tie downs every day can be a fishing day when there is safe ice

I used to spend way more time on the ice but once I was old enough to own a decent boat, that was it for me. I still like to ice fish but if I could launch my boat all year, I would be one happy man! Definitely open water for me, guess I'll have to move down with tuna where it's nice and toasty!

Safe ice 100%.

I love hitting isolated lakes. If it nearly kills me to get into a lake, I'll do it. Ice fishing season makes it possible to hit remote lakes .

Plus I can drive right to my shack on nip 2 minutes from my house and slay 'em regularly.
