Well I went to the cottage (Dorset) on Friday with my little guy hoping to be able to get to the cottage on the back trail and wet a line. From the updates I got from some friends I was expecting open water. Much to my surprise, when we got there the lake was still frozen. Took my spud out, gave it a good punch and it bounced back. Got the auger out and next thing you know I drilled through 8-10" of good ice.

We fished Fri-Sun with some plastics and didn't even have a bite. That really wasn't a big deal as it was just great seeing the enthusiasm of my 3 year old wanting to keep running out to check on the line. The weather couldn't have been better and I would take those conditions over some great summer days. We went for several atv rides throughout the weekend, which is one of his favourite things to do.

Not sure which one was more into fishing.....see pic.

Even though there wasn't a fish on the line, you try telling that to a 3 year old with a great imagination.

Good job on getting out on the ice this late! Too bad about the bite. Maybe next time.
