Based on availability and other factors, now leaning to Alwaki. From everything I have read it seems to me that an angler coming in for 3-4 days will have a better chance at success than the Marten River... could be wrong about that, but hey the availability works too so that's good.
Is there anything else I should be aware of or other locations I ought to consider? Kipawa Lodge does not work for availability... I know there are a few other lodges on Kipawa, is Alwaki as good a bet as any?

Marten river is tuff fishing but if you know where on the river it can be gold. The first few years we fished it we thought it sucked but we didn't give up and now It's like taking candy from a baby.. Lots of boat traffic does not help but put the time in and you will find some fish.... As well lots of great lakes in the area...

I'm only going because the cottage I normally fish at is unavailable at that time, so I'm moreso hoping for something I can jump into and have some success rather than needed multiple years to learn.
Kipawa Lodge may also actually work based on availability it turns out... I have had good conversations with Alwaki and feel quite comfortable with them, both have excellent reviews, is there any reason I should look harder at Kipawa Lodge?

Have you considered miwapanee lodge? just outside the village of kipawa. It is a drive to lodge and they offer cottages that you can boat in. Cottages are usually rented by the week. I stayed at one of the cottages for a week a couple of years ago with the family. Accommodations was great.
The fishing was ok, we didn't catch a lot of walleye but did better with the lake trout. By the end of the week we were dialed in and catching bigger trout as well. It is very secluded up there and we stayed close to the main lodge. The chain of lakes lets you explore for miles and hours, even with a big motor. Also, a very deep lake with sharp drop-offs, not too many weedbeds.

"Catering to a romantic get-away stay for couples, families, snowmobiliers, corporate events, fishermen and ATVer's."
MIWAPANEE LODGE & SPA does not seem to promote fishing. One word "fishermen" used.

Ok so its missing a fish cleaning station, lol..... he did say lodge or resort not fishing camp. some guys want a clean place to stay at like a lodge or resort. And yes it caters to more than just fishermen.

I was surprised that they didn't promote fishing. I guess with all of the hot tubs, it makes sense.
This means that the fish in this lake are growing since there may be minimal pressure. Hmmmm.
