As you know, I have been building a "Smitty Sled and I put the finishing touches to it today.

I'm going to post a series of pictures with some explanations. This will take me a few minutes to do.

If you have questions or comments, please wait until I get the final pic up as we shall have a nice uninterrupted flow of info.

Thanks.

As I said if you have questions, put up a post or send me a PM.

SDC

First pic is the skis and showing how I put the mounting blocks together. The PVC pipe will be in 3inches of pine. The blocks were screwed to the skis as well as being bonded with construction adhesive. All blocks were screwed together and bonded with the adhesive.

Second pic shows the 1 1/2 inch PVC bonded into the blocks as well as the piece that will drop down onto the skis and their posts. The PVC on the upper part is 2 inch so it just drops over. I have only screwed it into the holder. I can bonded it later if I want.

pic. 5--all assembled and ready to be loaded. It is held together by 1/4 inch eye bolts, washers top and bottom and then a lock washer and a wing nut.
Goes together and comes apart easily.

Looks good.. mine is very much like yours but to save some weight I don't have the 2 boards in the middle instead I put eye bolts on the sides where your PVC are and used bungee cords in a cross pattern and it holds well.

Great job thou!

Nice work and interesting design sdc. How is the top section tubes secured to the tubes mounted to the skies?
