Nice fish The Spank, that laker wouldn't have come out of one of those little lakes you pass on the way up Hwy.63 by chance?
No it came from waters right on the edge of the city. I used to fish a lot off the 63 hwy though and had some fantastic days fishing Splake, Specks and Bows, especially Splake! There are some fantastic Splake lakes that produce some great fishing. Lots of fun to be had flatlining at ice out and dragging around leech and minnow patterns on a fly rod is a blast. Lots of fish in the 2-4 pound range. My PB Laker came from the same area as the one in the picture trolling a traditional floating rapala in chartreuse/silver in 3 f.o.w shortly after ice out. Came in at 35"x20.5", 19 lbs.
A buddy of mine, pictured above holding a pike he caught this winter ice fishing at Idle Tyme, retired a couple of years ago and bought a place in Thorne right on the Ottawa River on the North side of the dam. I see all these little lakes along 63 on the way up to his place and I heard there were trout in some of these lakes that is why I asked. The traditional floating rapala, one of my favorite lures as well.

Thanks for the offer Spank, we have a quite a list of little lakes up off McDougall Lake road we are working on now plus the Ottawa River just outside the front door but if we ever want to venture down that way I will get in touch for sure.

FatRap, remember to let me know if you come down this way this summer. I always fish off the dams, so maybe you guys can come by and have a beer and toss a few lures out with us.
Been very anxious to get out. Just bought myself the new Ugly Stik GX2, so i cant wait to try that! Really nice looking rod, and its an Ugly Stik, so you know your getting a premium quality rod.

Sounds like a plan, love the Ugly Sticks got 3 or 4 of them myself.
That picture I posted on the previous page of my buddy with the pike caught ice fishing this year, he is the one who lives up there by you on the Ottawa River just north of the dam, you might see him around town in Temiskaming

Yeah i think ive seen him around. Looks familiar.
I know exactly which house he owns, just by your profile picture lol.
If you are standing on the goverment docks / public boat launch in Temiskaming his house is directly across the river, the one with the Toronto Maple Leaf flag on the flagpole.
