First of all, what a gorgeous day it was to be on the water yesterday. My two friends and I decided to go Musky fishing for 5hrs . We started at our usual spot and within 30 minutes I had a Muskie on. I was able to raise it's head but this sucker buried himself right back into the weeds . As I tried to get it clear of the weeds, he popped off my hook . Out came a few cuss words and then I had to regroup.
After about another hour or so, I had a follow and at the exact same time, a jet skier zoomed right in front of us causing the Muskie to turn away without giving me a chance to start my figure 8. I don't even need to explain to you all what I wanted to do to that jet skier. I just couldn't believe my luck!!
Then, finally, after thousands of casts I got another shot. As my lure just cleared the weeds, I felt a thump and set the hook. This short and fatty lil mama came out to say hi. She decided to jump and although it looked spectacular, I just wanted her in the net badly.
What a relief to see her in the net. Got her out quickly for a photo shoot and back in she went. Thank you, my lady

Beautiful smallie! Those are the break s sometime but at least you were able to get rewarded for your efforts. Hopefully next time you will land that muskie you were after.

Nice! I'd be happy with that myself!

This reminded me of an incident a couple of weeks ago when my boyfriend and I were trying our luck in our trusty canoe in Hog Bay (Georgian Bay). This guy (who's docked in a bright orange cigar boat at the end of the bay) guns it out with no regard to us, who are in a non-motorized watercraft. I yelled to try and get his attention, but we were ignored. To make matters worse, upon his return, although we were now farther up in more open waters, he deliberately (we watched him alter his course, at the last minute I might add!!) squeezed his big-a__-look-at-me-I'm-a-total-a__hole boat between us and the docks jutting out from shoreline.
While he could have taken the same route back, leaving us plenty of berth, he chose to ram his cigar boat through the eye of a needle, causing us to scramble to get turned into his wake. I shook my head and yelled at the guy, we were THAT close. He had to have heard us, looked straight at us like we didn't have the right to be there; a complete disregard for others on the water. Meathead. I'm sure the cottagers in the area appreciated his wake too!
