I've heard the small ones referred to as a "Hank jr. special". That might be more of a local name though.

Yup......it's almost time for our annual Canada vs. America muskie tournament. Team USA won last year and Hank basked in the glow of victory.
Hopefully Team Canada can return to its rightful place as winners.

I was on Sturgeon a couple weeks ago and had 5 follows.....Hank feels pretty confident again since my fish are "just looking".

Well, I love the fact that my topic was a catalyst for chatting among friends, but nobody has answered my question yet. I know there is a term for small muskie, much as in the way of calling small Northerns 'hammer handles'. I have heard the term before, but I can't remember it. SOMEBODY must have heard a slang term for a small muskie!

Screamer, I don't know of a nickname for them but growing up we always called them "kids". So if you caught a small one, it was "it's just a kid".
