Hey Everyone,

I have a tough decision to make.... I have the green light to go ice fishing this weekend around the Parry Sound area, all day Friday, Sat and a bit of Sunday but I am concerned about the rain in the forcast and what it will do to the ice on the lakes in that area. I don’t want to use up this weekend and get out there just to realize that the rain has made the ice conditions unsafe. I’m talking smaller lakes in the area, no monsters like lake joe or anything. I know the ice conditions are safe right now but After this rain I’m not to sure. Anyone have any input?

Thanks a lot.

Im in muskoka and the forecast seems to be back and forth as to how much rain we’re getting tonight till Friday and if the snow coming Saturday or not. They were calling for 15-20 cm now looks like just cold. Either way the rain has started and things will be a mess tomorrow. Hopefully someone can be some more help and let you know how the lakes over there fair out but Friday especially will be awfully slushy and wet I would say.

Also I know you were just using joe as an example for big lakes but friendly reminder to check the regs for wherever your headed. ..

Fished rosseau last weekend. 8 inches of black ice and 3 inches of white. Ice will be slushy but won't deteriorate. Biggest thing to watch for is pressure cracks from the warm Temps were getting.spud out and be safe. I'm going on my atv Saturday

As long as there is snow on top the ice will not melt. might be messy though.

Friday and Saturday bring your kayak, it’s all a big lake right now and continuing to rain all night. Gonna be awesome soon.
