I understand that there are lakers on the N side of the peninsula but you will need a rig to get deep.
Watch out for bears. When we were there 3 yrs ago they were breaking into cars---yes, plural----for food. We left early because of concern for the kids.

not worried about bears lol. we have a 30ft trailer that should keep us safe. but i am worried about not being able to get deep enough to get at those lakers lol.

We use to go up there for years . Downrig for Lakers with big flashy spoons . Watch the special regulations! They should be posted in the park office or in the small park paper they give you. We also had good luck with rainbows and bass just trolling with worms and sinker or worm harness with spinner. Try the points and around small islands . Hope this helps.

We used to fis out of Deep Bay and fished the area northeast of Killbear for lake trout. We stayed between Killbear and the cluster of islands to the northeast and had good luck downrigging for lakers with spoons and bodybaits. It’s been a few years now but I imagine the fishing could still be good. There used to be a fish sanctuary off the end of Killbear point so check the regs before you go. Good luck

Probably irrelevant because it was about 25 years ago. But, I did stay at Kill bear Marina when traveling by boat and the Pike fishing was unbelievable at the time. I also remember it being very clear water and one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen.

well tried everything we could to get down to the lakers with out down riggers to no avail. was marking quite a few but couldnt get any chasers. went and found some bays and points in search of pike. lost one real good pike at the boat. did manage a couple smallies that we were not targeting because they were not open yet. they are still swimming. The water was unbelievably clear. it was actually incredible. Killbear is truly an amazing park. we had deer walking right into our campsite while we were there. Also a massive porcupine waddled up to us at the campfire which was a little scary lol. But all and all a great weekend and i cannot wait to get back on that water. pics to follow
