It may not look as big as the one above but it was worth sitting in the rain all morning. For those looking for really good fishing and hunting jackets for weather like today and all week, look at the cabelas guidewear and related items. Kept me dry and warm in the downpours.

SB14: Nicely done! A good payoff for the weather sat through. Mother Nature sure has been making it hard for hunters this fall weather-wise. It continued today, and the rest of the week likewise.

My brother in law and I always team up for the shotgun deer hunt in the first week of November. Monday started out rainy with 2 bucks and four does spotted at first light in a cornfield. The one buck was too small but the bigger one needed to come closer. They were both working my way but suddenly turned and walked into the bush to follow a doe.

We took a break for lunch and headed out for an evening sit . I watched four does most of the night but no bucks appeared. My partner was watching a swampy/grassy bedding area when a buck appeared out of the swamp grass. One shot and a forty yard dash and he was down.

Tuesday we hunted in pouring rain and monsoon winds and saw some deer but nothing we wanted to hang our last tag on.

Wednesday morning broke with calmer winds and less rain . I saw no deer but my brother in law had 3 bucks around his stand for an hour when the biggest bodied deer offered a 15 yard broadside shot. He made no mistake and the 7 point piled up 40 yards away. This filled our tags and ended our hunt.

Most groups are seeing fewer deer than other years and the weather didn’t help.

Glad to see/hear successful hunts. It was a hunt from hell weather-wise this past week. It made for a lean season for a lot of the gangs rifle hunting -- Grey County. Giving credit to the weather for shutting down deer activity generally, our group and others saw few bucks and no does with youngster. During the turkey hunt we'd see countless deer throughout the day and in good size groups. Gone? Time to do some coyote control this winter(?).

Congrats to other's success and time spent in the bush.

I hear you on that. One of the very few times my old man hasn’t shot a deer or two in rifle season. Tough hunting this year and honestly the past few years in 82B. Still trying to get my girlfriend her first buck. Maybe powder season will yield better days.

We didn’t see anything the last couple of days, not even a track. There’s definitely not too many deer around and there’s usually lots. The last couple of harsh winters we had probably had an effect on things. I’m thinking of getting a crossbow next season so I can make it last longer because a couple of days just wasn’t long enough for me.
