Id say its a herring.
Whitefish have a rounded snout and mouth underneath such as a sucker.

Nice report. Glad to hear. I’d like to try that operator. Long drive and save me hauling all the gear and setup. And I’d say herring. Whitie top jaw is longer. Herring bottom jaw is equal or longer. That fish has a longer bottom jaw.
