After 2 days and about 5 hours of driving my son finally managed to nail a fish. The first day we went out we didn't catch or get any bites but had a blast. The second day we drove about 30 minutes farther up north and after losing 4 fish and getting quite a few bites my son managed to nail his first northern pike ever right before the sun went down! He did really good the ice was cracking and popping it was really cold today and he suddenly had to go number 2 but getting that fish on snapped him out of all that and we made it to the rest station in Port Severne before any severe damage was done. We have been targetting pan fish but maybe the pike are scaring them away from us and we just need to get better at catching pike and releasing them away from where we are fishing so the pan fish start biting.
