Screws in soles of boots, Glue

I have decided to try putting screws in the soles of my Baffin Titans because my creepers are a real PITA. I have read on here and elsewhere, though, that lots of people have had them fall out. Could some of you who have NOT had them fall out recommend a glue that I should use. thx, folks

IMO, My advice: don't. They DO fall out and you are risking to cut through the sole.IMHO getting a GOOD pair of ice cleats (Kahtoola or it's clones) will serve you much better.

You folks should try cultivating a good relationship (maybe even a small bribe, lol) with a letter carrier . As a retired postie I can tell you that the slip on ice cleats that we have been issued the last few years are top notch.

I put 17 kms per day on my last pair, over pavement, ice and dirt and they were just as sharp at the end of the winter as the first day. The studs are tungsten carbide and just don't wear out.

See if your new friend can order an extra set to replace the one they lose for you.

I know this topic has been beaten up to death every ice season just add my quick 2 cents .
Ask yourself a question: why all serious mountain climbers almost never use studded footwear and almost exclusively use good ice cleats? The answer is simple - better grip. I can run full speed on sheer ice to my tip up in the cleats without being afraid to fall. Of course the studded boots will improve traction and will do the job most of the time but they will fall behind the good cleats on clear smooth ice. I was using the studs before and will never return back to them just for the above mentioned quality of grip.

I bought the princess auto cleats 2 weeks ago when I discovered (once again) that my studded cleats where iffy at best on glare ice. Haven’t tried them yet, but they sure look just about as good as the $75 katahoolas. Here’s hoping they work as well. I too wouldn’t bother with studding boots. It’s a bit of a time waster imo as it’s only 50 percent effective. I wear studded boots when wading and it works well for moss covered rocks and is somewhat useful on ice, but your still going to slip and fall unless your a cross between a mountain goat and a ballerina.

I went through 4 adhesives with my titans, all fell out. I just got some yak track pros that fit my Titan 14s work great.

I think the rubber is softer than most boots so they fall out alot.

I use the slip on cleats also. But if you decide you still want to try the studs' maybe a dab or RTV silicone? I might have a look at the cleats from PA as mine are a bit of a pain to slip over the titans as well.

PL premium. Comes in a silicon tube u need a silicon gun for it. crap sticks and bonds to all woods, most rubber and plastic base materials. Just let it cure for a day or so. Gotta be warm when applying and warm while it cures

I use hex head metal screws on my boots for years now and only lost one so far. I found they provide better traction than the cleats. I never used glue with them, just screwed them to the threads of my boots. This year i took them off and added some hot glue at their base where they enter the thread, mainly to prevent water from entering the boots. Don't know whether hot glue was the right choice but will see how it goes. Last year I bought a pair of Sub-Zero Full Shoe ice cleats from CT for my other pair of boots, and I am not as happy about their performance. By the way those cleats are now on sale at CT for $5.93 (down from $14.99)

Still like the LV ones, a little more money, but stay on and are very good traction wise, called Icers.

I used self tapping sheet metal screws with a dab of shoe goo that's what I had already.

Tried that, and jb weld marine and silicone and aquaseal. Problem is that the rubber is soft so it flexes as you walk so you need an adhesive that will Stay soft and flexible at freezing temps.

I bought 250 ice stud screws and they are almost all gone.

Baffin titans seem to be more prone in this adhesive issues.
